Turn A Blog Post Into A Podcast - Content Marketing Multiplier

Podcast

I'm a big fan of getting more mileage from my efforts. Who isn't? Because time is always against us in business, we need to jump on any opportunity to save it! Last week I wrote about turning a blog post into a video and what the content marketing multiplier is to me. This week I'd like to discuss a way to turn a blog post into a podcast.

What's a Podcast?

First, a brief description of a podcast. According to Wikipedia, a podcast is...

a digital medium consisting of an episodic series of audio, video, PDF, or ePub files subscribed to and downloaded through web syndication or streamed online to a computer or mobile device

The most common form of a podcast is audio. There are tons of them. As the definition above indicates, your blog posts would become a series of regularly released audio files through one of the many podcast platforms, such as:

If you were nervous about how you'd look in a youtube video, a podcast will be right up your alley. Because it's just audio, you won't need to face a camera, just a microphone. The good news is, your computer probably already has a microphone built in and your smartphone definitely does. If you are already creating videos of your blog posts, you could even take the audio from the video and use that as a podcast.

Subscribers Will Look Forward To Your Podcast

Much like blog subscribers look forward to new posts being written, podcast subscribers are setup to regularly receive your new podcasts as they are published. This again reaches a different set of content consumers that prefer to learn by audio instead of reading.

You can also take the podcasts and embed them with the blog post they are based on or post them as completely new blog posts.

The Bottom Line

Ultimately, you're looking to multiply your content efforts by implementing your content in different formats. Audio is a great companion to your written or video content.
