We're Back From The Inbound 2014 Conference

You may (or may not) have noticed that last week was pretty quiet here. We weren't on vacation! Josh and I traveled to Boston for the Inbound 2014 Conference. It has been a couple of years since we attended this conference and boy has it grown! The first time we attended the conference had about 1500 attendees. This time, there were 10,000!! The effectiveness of Inbound Marketing is real and the droves of marketers that are trying to get involved is a telling sign of that. This year the conference was held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, which was a significantly larger venue than the last time we attended. Needless to say, I wish I would have worn a pedometer because we walked a ton. The building is enormous and the sessions were spread out across the building in different rooms. There was 30 minutes between each session to ensure that attendees had sufficient time to get around the building. Pick Your Programming The conference worked much like I wish television ...

So you're convinced that inbound marketing is definitely how you should focus your company's marketing efforts, but you have an up hill battle in front of you to get management and the rest of the company on board. Fear not. It is possible! Getting buy-in for an inbound marketing initiative is all about planning. Here're the 6 steps in Inbound Marketing to succeed! Step 1 - Arm Yourself With Data The greatest advantage that inbound marketing has over traditional, interruption-based tactics is that it is highly measurable. If you want to measure it, it's probably possible. Use this to your advantage! The data available is undeniable when it comes to showing the effectiveness of inbound marketing. Some examples: Blog frequency impacts customer acquisition. 92% of companies who blogged multiple times a day acquired a customer through their blog. (HubSpot State of Inbound Marketing, 2012) 83% of marketers indicate that social media is important for their business. (Source: Social Media ...

Turn A Blog Post Into A Video - Content Marketing Multiplier

Time is always the biggest hurdle presented when discussing the idea of an ongoing content marketing effort. As I've said in the past, time is usually not the actual issue. It's more commonly the learning curve that is the issue, despite the minimal learning curve in front of you. If time truly IS a limiter for your content marketing effort, not to worry, one of the best parts about marketing this way is what I like to call the content marketing multiplier. The content marketing multiplier is essentially taking one piece of content, be it a blog post, FAQ, video, ebook, etc... and making it work in different formats. Turn a Blog Post Into A Video You finally found the time to think out a modest blog post and you're feeling great! Then it hits you that you had better start preparing for your next post. That great feeling goes away because you know you have this, that and the other thing to do in the next couple of days as well. If only you could make the next content endeavor go ...

Your Buyer Is Smarter Than They Used To Be

While I'm sure your buyers are not experts on what you sell, they are without a doubt, smarter than they used to be, say 3-5 years ago. We live in an era where just about anything you want to learn about can be found online. Buyers don't blindly call sales reps based on referrals anymore. They still call the rep, but only after they've researched the company, their solution and the specific rep. Even if you rely solely on referrals for new business you still have to have an effective web strategy, because they want to know you before you know them.

Create The Perfect Homepage For 2014-2015

The homepage of your website is like the facade of your office or storefront times 10. If people drive by your actual office, they are going to form opinions about you based on the signs, colors, size, neighborhood, overall aesthetics, etc... but they are in front of your office. In most cases, they aren't going to turn the corner, seconds later, and be at your competitor's office. This is especially true for B2B companies.
